Technical Information
Which Tyre?
Silverstone competition tyres are design with specific uses. For example you would not use the s525 gravel tyre on a race circuit like wise a circuit slick would not be appropriate to use in muddy conditions consequently you need to choose the correct tyre for the correct application. And we at service and sport limited are always available to discuss which tyre your require.
Which Wheel?
As witch a tyre you must use the correct wheel for your application this is not only "a common sense" issue but has legal implications. Therefore it is imperative that you discuss with us you specific requirement.
Silverstone tyres are especially designed and compounded for competition use. No warranty is given on Silverstone tyres due to the conditions under which they operate.
Tubeless Motorsport tyres
All recently designed competition tyres are of tubeless construction, and should be fitted to steel or alloy wheels with the correct tolerances. Cast alloy wheels should be treated to ensure they are not porous.
Tyre Care
Tyres should be stored in a controlled environment with cool temperatures above 0 and in darkness. High temperature, direct sunlight, proximity to high voltage electric motors or welding equipment should be avoided if at all possible. Tyre Life will be improved if tyres are scrubbed in before use in anger. Tyres should be quickly and briefly brought up to operating temperature without the use of hard acceleration, braking or cornering and then cooled off.
Tyre Fitting
Always have tyres fitted by a competent and reputable tyre dealer who understands the requirements of fitting competition tyres. Fitting should be carried out with extreme care to avoid damaging the bead, which is of critical importance in a tubeless tyre. Wheels should be checked for cracks, chips and rust that may prevent airtight seals or present a hazard.

We also offer a full fitting service from our Lancashire office, this service is offered strictly by appointment only.
Tyre pressures
No firm rule exists for the ideal tyre pressure Ideal will vary between car, driver, application and discipline. Sufficient pressure must be used to avoid structural problems when the vehicle is cornering.
Pressure vary from one category to the next so if in doubt please call a member of the team.
Inflation pressure conversion:
PSI to BAR: divide by 14.7
BAR to PSI: multiply by 14.7
