MRF – India's largest tyre manufacturer has a rich and varied history. A company which started with the manufacturer of balloons is today a USD 2.5 billion giant with products for every segment of the tyre market, from the smallest scooter tyre to tyres for giant earth movers. MRF is also the only Indian tyre company to manufacturer aircraft tyres.
MRF lays great emphasis on R&D and has grown to be the leader in all segments of the tyre market in India. The Corporate Technical Centre, located in Chennai, India, is responsible for materials development, process and product design and testing. The R&D centre uses the most advanced technologies for simulation, testing and design practices. It develops best-in-class tyres for Indian and international markets to exceed all aspects of customer expectation – safety, comfort and durability.
Each of our factories are designed to rigorous standards with state of the art automation and skilled technicians, to deliver tyres of the best quality every time. What started in a modest shed has grown to nine modern factories spread across India, each one geared to meet the exacting demands of or large customer base.
MRF has won the J.D. Power Asis Pacific Original Equipment Tyre Customer Satisfaction award for a record 12 times in the last 16 years – a testament to the trust reposed in brand MRF by our customers.
MRF is passionate about motorsports and has been associated with all forms of motorsports for over 4 decades. What started with touring car races, has led today to the power of formula racing with India's own formula racing series – the MRF Challenge featuring the MRF Formula 2000, one of the fastest racing cars in Asia. The series has now gone international with rounds in Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai and Abu Dhabi and is now poised to make an entry into other geographies.
MRF has won 8 Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) titles including the 2016 championship with the MRF-Skoda Asia Pacific Rally Championship team.
1980
Marked the beginning of motorsport racing for MRF. We actively participated in motor racing events held at the Sholavaram Air Base.
1990
The newly-formed Team MRF started taking part in various national rally championships like the Great Himalayan rally, which was one of the toughest rallies at that time.
2008
Team MRF built their first formula 1600 car using a Van Diemen chassis and a Ford Duratec engine..
2010
The MRF formula 1600 race was hosted as a support event at the first Indian F1 Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit, India's first F1 circuit.
2012
The MRF formula 2000 car was launched. This gave birth to the MRF challenge, which was included in the FIA calendar of Events hosted at the world-famous racing circuits like the ones in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai and Qatar.
Service & Sport was established in the late 1990s by Jerry Freeman on leaving Pirelli Motorsport Italy after a very successful twelve year spell. As one of Pirelli's motorsport engineers he won many World Rally Championships with the likes of Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz and Richard Burns along with Toyota, Subaru and Seat, and also BTCC titles with Andy Rouse, Frank Sytner and Tim Harvey.
Silverstone Berhad were Service & Sport's first manufacturer and were instrumental in the development of not only the tyres but the market in both the UK and Europe. Since then other manufacturers have trusted Service & Sport to help with development, especially Federal, Dmack, Nankang and MRF.
